Our Story

In July of 2024, our son Paxton was diagnosed with childhood leukemia. Shortly after, we learned that he carried a rare gene mutation that would make treating his cancer far more difficult.

As a family, we traveled back and forth from Kauai to Oahu so Paxton could receive treatment. Eventually, we made the incredibly difficult decision to move him to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles in hopes of giving him the best possible chance.

Soon after arriving in California, Paxton relapsed, and his cancer transformed from Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) to Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). We were immediately transferred to the bone marrow transplant unit to begin preparing him for transplant. We were blessed to learn that there were many perfect donor matches.

During this time, Paxton became very ill and faced multiple complications, including COVID, C. diff, and a serious blood disorder. Despite everything his little body endured, Paxton fought bravely.

The transplant took place, but just 21 days later we were devastated to learn that his body was already 75% full of cancer cells. Ultimately, the transplant was not successful, and due to the condition of his body, another transplant was no longer an option.

Paxton was moved to hospice and passed away on March 11, 2025, surrounded by family. We held him close as he gained his warrior angel wings and went to be with Jesus.

Paxton was a kind, outgoing little boy who loved life and loved people. His warrior spirit now rests in peace, surrounded by love. With faith in our hearts and aloha guiding our actions, we honor Paxton by sharing kindness, compassion, and hope with others.
